James Crowden
Author, Poet & Broadcaster
Inspirational journalist and broadcaster, passionate writer, agricultural crusader; The West Countries finest food advocate and champion ...
CAROL Trewin was an extraordinarily gifted journalist whose contribution to raising the profile of local food and drink in the South West was immense. She really cared, not just about people, her job and the stories she wrote about, but about farming itself, the quality of the food culture and the links with the landscape. Carol, who died yesterday after a three-year battle with leukaemia, loved walking the moors and only four weeks ago made the six-mile circuit from Porlock Weir to Culbone church and back again, a steep climb at the best of times. Many who knew her well were amazed at her tenacity in handling the fact she was diagnosed with leukaemia in May 2006. The courage she showed in working right to the very end was truly amazing.
