Though Carol was already ill when we met, the strength of her character, personality and zest for life was most certainly not diminished in the least. Over the past months, we worked together on a declaration in protest at the recent happenings within Slow Food UK, and I valued greatly her astute and clear vision, as well as her strong and unwavering commitment to fairness and to the values that underpin the Slow Food movement (as we understood them). I am sorry not to have known Carol earlier but feel privileged to have counted her  as a friend.
